令和4年度国際学術ウェビナーシリーズ第1回 「Higher Education for A Just and Sustainable World 1 Transforming teaching and

On Nov.26, we were pleased to host our 1st international webinar of the Annual Webinar Series of 2022. In this webinar, we welcome three distinguished speakers from China, Hong Kong, China, and Japan to share their research and insight about the transformation of teaching and learning in higher education institutions. Prof. Zhiyong Zhu, Professor of the Faculty of Education at Beijing Normal University, presented his team's paper regarding the policy and practice of education for sustainable development in China from national policy analysis and a case of Beijing Normal University. In the following presentation, Mr. Adrian Lam shared his experience of integrating and implementing sustainability issues to the common core at the University of Hong Kong through University-wide transdisciplinary general education. Dr. Sadaf Taimer, as the third presenter, a research fellow from the Graduate Program in Sustainability Science, Global Leadership Initiative, University of Tokyo, talked about her team's investigation of the transformative potential of design thinking pedagogy in a hybrid setting of a case study of field exercise course.



After the three presentations, Dr. Zhou Zhong (Tsinghua University & Tohoku University) and Dr. Roger Yap Chao (Assistant Director, Education, Youth & Sports Division of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Department), as discussants, shared their reflections on the presentations and raised questions for the presenters.

In the discussion, the speakers addressed the revolution & transformation of faculty members, partnership with stakeholders from internal and external campuses, and policy-driven and individual-initiated transformation of teaching and learning in higher education institutions for sustainable development goals.

The session is a kick-off session of our webinar series in 2022. We look forward to our next exchange on Dec.17, 2022.
